Are you looking for an idea for an active weekend in the mountains in winter? Do you want to take full advantage of the conditions and feel the real atmosphere of this time of year? The Śnieżnik Massif is one of the best places for an active holiday in the Sudetes. You have everything you need here. Perfectly prepared slopes skiing, professional cross-country trails and many other winter attractions. You don't have to wonder how to plan two intensive days in the mountains - we have something for you proven plan.
Start your winter weekend with a visit to Black Mountain Resort – a must-see on the tourist map in the Eastern Sudetes. This modern ski complex offers 10 kilometres of perfectly prepared slopes of varying degrees of difficulty. To start with, it is a good idea to choose the gentler slopes at the lower station – warming up is the basis for a successful day of skiing! When you feel more confident, you can gradually move on to more demanding routes.
Czarna Góra boasts the longest illuminated ski trail in Poland. 2,800 meters – that's how much is available to skiers skiing after dark. Evening skiing is a unique experience: the lights reflecting in the snow create a magical atmosphere, less crowded slopes allow you to fully enjoy winter fun. And thanks to modern lifts, including comfortable 6-person loungers, you will spend more time on the slope than in the queue.
Beginner skiers need not worry. A professional ski school with experienced instructors will ensure that your first steps on the snow are pure pleasure. On site you will also find a rental shop with the latest equipment.
If you are worried about the crowds during peak season and want to try riding in a more intimate setting, head to ski station in Kamienica. This place is famous for its friendly atmosphere and great conditions for learning to ski. Thanks to its gentle slopes, Kamienica is an ideal option for families with children and for those taking their first steps on skis.
The second day is worth devoting to a slightly different experience, namely cross-country skiing in the Bialskie Mountains. This is an activity that allows you to discover the winter mountains from a new perspective. On the Polish side, you will find approx. 60 kilometers of professionally prepared trails. Experienced cross-country skiers and beginners alike will find something for themselves here – the shorter loops are ideal for those just trying out the sport.
We especially recommend the route from Bielice to the border ridge with the Czech Republic, and from there, for example, to the Old Town at our neighbors. It is a picturesque trip among snow-covered spruces, with amazing views of the Śnieżnik Massif. On the way, you can take a break in Paprsek Shelter and drink warming tea with a view of the snow-capped peaks.
Adrenaline lovers can try ski touring in the Śnieżnik Massif. It is a form of skiing that combines skiing in mountain terrain with descent off the prepared trails. Ski touring uses special skis with bindings that allow for free movement uphill and traditional descent. An extraordinary sense of freedom guaranteed!
The popular route to Śnieżnik (1425 m above sea level) takes about 3-4 hours, but the views from the top are worth every effort. Just remember that it is worth using the help of a guide before your first trip.
An equally exciting proposition is snowmobile trips. Such rides are offered by local rental companies, as well as the shelter on Śnieżnik. It is a great option to diversify a winter weekend.

Before you set off, check the conditions on the slopes – most resorts provide online camera footage. Book your accommodation in advance, especially if you want to go to the mountains during popular dates. Bring appropriate clothing – the principle of dressing “in layers” works best in the mountains. Don’t forget a warm hat, gloves and sun goggles. Also remember the basic safety rules. Save GOPR number (601 100 300 and 985) and follow weather reports. In winter, the weather in the mountains can change very quickly.
